By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   The Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Tajudeen Abbas has commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives as a result of the flooding that affected some communities in Katsina State.
The Speaker in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Musa Krishi, expressed sadness over the ravaging flooding in various parts of the country.

Dr. Abbas noted that concerted efforts must be put in place to mitigate its effects on Nigerians
He reiterated the need for residents and communities to heed the advisary issued by the relevant authorities regarding flooding.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the people and the government of Katsina State over this sad incident.

“I also extend my sympathies to the families of those impacted by the flooding in other parts of the country,” the Speaker said.

The Speaker called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to double its efforts in providing relief materials to the affected persons.
The Katsina State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA had disclosed that from August to early September, a total of 15 persons lost their lives from floods, while 3,000 persons were displaced, with 21,481 individuals sustaining injuries due to the flooding.
