NASARAWA ASSEMBLY HOLDS PUBLIC HEARING ON LG AUTONOMY MONDAY                                                                                 19-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs is to hold a one day public hearing on a Bill for a Law to Repeal and Enact the Establishment, Structure, Composition, Finance and Functions of Local Government System in Nasarawa State, 2024 and Other Matters Connected Thereto.

A statement by Chairman House Committee on Local Government. Musa Abubakar Ibrahim says the amendment is in line with the recent Supreme Court judgement granting financial autonomy to the 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria.

The statement calls on the State Ministry For Local government, Ministry of Justice, Nigeria Bar Association NBA, State Pension Bureau, Local Government Service Commission, Chairman State Council of Chiefs and Emir of Lafia Retired Justice Sidi Bage as well as interested bodies, groups and individuals to submit 15 copies of memorandum on their observations and recommendations on the proposed amendment bill.

It adds that all parties involved are also expected to appear for submission and oral defence this Monday at the Assembly complex Lafia.
