By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The remains of the late Emir of Zuru, Major General (Rtd.) Muhammad Sani Sami, have been laid to rest in Zuru, Kebbi State.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasiru Idris, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, Emir of Kano Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, and other prominent leaders joined thousands of sympathisers at the funeral.

The late Emir, a former military governor of Bauchi State under General Muhammadu Buhari’s regime, was remembered as a respected traditional ruler who dedicated his life to unity, peace, and service to his people.

The Chief Imam of Zuru Central Mosque, Malam Suleman Muhammadu, led the funeral prayer after the Friday Jumu’at prayer.

Tributes poured in, with Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, describing his death as a great loss to Zuru, Kebbi State, and Nigeria. Sarkin Zamfara Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmed, also hailed him as a leader who worked for peace and development.
