MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS UNVEILS A SET OF MODERN INDUSTRIAL AND CUTTING MACHINES TO ENHANCE IT’S SEWING FACTORY’S CAPABILITIES 08-11-23
By Sadiq Aminu The Ministry of Women Affairs has unveiled a set of modern industrial and cutting machines to enhance its sewing factory’s capabilities.
The public presentation of these machines took place in Abuja, with the Minister Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to promoting “Made in Nigeria” fabrics globally, aligning with the Renewed Hope agenda’s objectives of eradicating poverty and creating job opportunities.
These newly acquired industrial machines are part of a broader strategy aimed at empowering women sustainably, enabling them to be self-reliant, and contributing to their families while boosting the nation’s economic growth, she said.
The Minister stated that the machines would be integrated into the Women Development Centre sewing factory in Abuja, and similar initiatives would be extended across different geopolitical zones to further empower Nigerian women.
In an effort to promote locally made fabrics, the Ministry has also partnered with foreign investors to access the global market, generating additional revenue for women.
The House Committee Chairman on Science Research Institutions, Beni Lar, praised the Minister for her unwavering dedication to addressing the challenges faced by women and vulnerable children in Nigeria.
In a related development, the Ministry received the first batch of Tricycles under the Pink Riders Transport scheme, designed to provide women with branded tricycles.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to empower women, create job opportunities, and enhance their capacity to contribute to national growth.
